FLOSSCamp 2009

FLOSSCamp is the only FLOSS community oriented event in Romania, organised by some Free Software communities for people with the same interests . During last 2 editions, about 100 people gathered together for a couple of days camping in the mountains. This year is no exception, so we’re waiting for at least the same number of campers to come to Brașov, Poiana Secuilor, on (6,)7-8th of August. I will be there as part of Ubuntu and WordPress Romanian local teams, and hopefuly will meet more new people.

WordPress Loco Theme

So the awesome drupal loco is dead… (ex lp:~drupal-loco).
I was working on ubuntu-md loco website, so I said to create a WordPress ubuntu loco theme from scratch. The results were nice so I said to publish everything to Launchpad. Hope all that stuff will become useful one day to other loco teams.

If you are interested, checkout the project: WordPress Loco Theme or get the code: bzr branch lp:~sushkov/wordpress-loco/trunk. Branching is welcomed!

The plans for future… Knowing that ubuntu.com will get re-branded, I’m interested to continue the wordpress-loco development to reflect new brand changes. Maybe even rewrite the plugins needed for loco teams to connect to Launchpad.

Time will show, so far I’m trying to bring up some loco activity in Moldova, and I hope we’ll even get a release party for upcoming Lucid 10.4…

Curățenie prin tichete

Da, astăzi am făcut curățenie prin proiectele ubuntu-ro și GSL. Multe tichete au fost rezolvate sau închise din diverse motive.

Îmi pare foarte rău pentru proiectul Libertas, care deși părea ceva realizabil și chiar activ, va fi înlocuit în scurt timp (cel mai probabil de cele două cărți de la FTA).

În rest, noi să fim sănătoși. Da, și am scos „zăpada” de pe softwareliber.ro, pentră că vreau primăvară deja.

Chișinău Jaunty Release Party

Last weekend we held Ubuntu Party Chișinău, Moldova. I must say it was a lot of fun. New people, new places, new opportunities.

The whole party was driven by LMZ, and there was presentations about:

Linux, and some of it’s history, by Tiberiu
Ubuntu, and it’s history, by Andrei
Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope — 9.04 and what new it brings, by me
OpenStreetMap, and it’s Moldavian community, by Jekader
Ubuntu Romania, and it’s path to a LoCo, by me

We did some coffee/coke breaks between presentations during this time I met a lot of new people, which in my opinion are ready and wish to become part of a local Ubuntu LUG (and maybe in nearest future a LoCo).

There are some credits to be given, especially to Technical University of Moldova, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, linux.md, fedora.md, bsd.md and of course GSL.

I must say that Ubuntu Moldavian community was started! Keep an eye on them, they’re going to become more and more visible soon. :)

Everybody can join the Ubuntu-MD mailing list, ubuntu-md IRC channel.

Soon there will be announced the forum, website and other details.

Salut, din cauza unei pane de curent din data centrul nostru, serverele GSL nu puteau fi accesate. La momentul de față nu s-au observat pierderi de date, astfel tehnologiile Ubuntu folosite și-au demonstrat siguranța!

Ne cerem scuze pentru disconfortul adus.

Pe #gsl am sărbătorit împreună cu Alin, Ionuț, Cristi (log-ul). Pe #1234567890 am sărbătorit împreună cu alți ~1111 de oameni (log-ul, atenție ~2Mb!). Mersi Libertiny pentru redundanță :).
